College Offers Course in Cell Phone Photography

Immaculata University in Philadelphia, PA, is now offering a course in cell phone photography. Of course we are all using our cell phones as our primary camera. It’s the camera we always have with us and it’s relatively easy to use, and with all the Camera apps in the Android Market, you can use your phone to take tons of pictures all with different effects.

Sean Flannery and Hunter Martin teach the class, and they also take ethical responsibility into this course. Flannery takes on the task of teaching his students the consequences of voyeurism, ethics, citizen journalism, and the difference between public and private spaces. But he also teaches them the mechanics of lighting, composition, and editing.

Not a bad start for migrating cell phones into school rather than completely banning them.
